IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa volleyball team’s spring season is in full swing, and the Hawkeyes are off to a very successful start. Last weekend, the Hawkeyes earned a first place finish at the Three Wise Men Tournament, hosted by Loyola University in Chicago.
The Hawkeyes took first in their morning pool, winning five out of the six sets played. Iowa continued its stellar play in the championship pool, knocking off Big Ten foe Michigan State, along with Northern Illinois and Valparaiso.
“It was exciting to see our team win several two-point sets in route to winning the tournament,” Head Coach Sharon Dingman said. “The enthusiasm generated this fall has continued to grow throughout spring season. The team has been training very hard since January, and winning that tournament and the success we had in our first weekend of competition was a nice reward for them.”
Iowa returns to action Saturday, when it travels to Ames for the Iowa State Spring Tournament. Teams competing along with Iowa include Iowa State, Drake, Northern Iowa, North Dakota State and UMKC.
