IOWA CITY, IA – The University of Iowa Athletic Department’s veteran trainer and travel coordinator, John Streif, has been picked to receive a prestigious award from the All-American Football Foundation. The announcement came today from Jimmy McDowell, AAFF President.
Streif will accept the AAFF’s 2009 Outstanding Athletic Trainer Award at a banquet in Chicago on July 26th. A number of other football players and administrators will be honored at the event. The Big Ten Football Kickoff Luncheon activities begin the next day, also in Chicago.
Streif joined the Iowa training staff in 1972 and has been an integral part of the Hawkeye staff since that time. He began handling travel duties for many Iowa teams in 1980.
A native of Manchester, IA, he received his college degree from Iowa in 1970. He has received numerous awards and commendations for his work and service over the past 37 years.
