CEDAR RAPIDS/IOWA CITY, Iowa – The hunt is on. Gazette Communications and the UI Athletics Department have teamed to create an exciting opportunity for fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes just in time for the 2009 college football season: KCRG-TV9’s Hawkeye Gold Ticket.

The contest is simple: A gold ticket has been hidden somewhere in Linn or Johnson County. Fans of the Hawkeyes are invited to follow a series of clues to locate the ticket. The first fan who does will win an ultimate prize package that includes tickets to home events of Iowa football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball and volleyball teams including a pair of tickets to the indoor club space of the Paul W. Brechler Press Box at historic Kinnick Stadium when the nationally ranked Hawkeyes entertain Indiana in late October.

KCRG-TV9 Sports Director John Campbell will reveal one clue each day beginning Sunday, Aug. 23. The clue will appear in the sports section of The Gazette and will be available at 5 a.m. online at
