IOWA CITY, Iowa – It’s not too late to add a little comfort to your seat location inside historic Kinnick Stadium.
The UI Athletics Department is still accepting orders for the new-and-improved Kinnick Stadium chairbacks. The most significant improvement to the new chairback system is the elimination of the metal bar that ran across a fan’s back. The new chairbacks are also made of a heavier, more sturdy metal, and heavier vinyl. And, like the previous chairback, they offer a comfortable seat cushion and clearly designate a fan’s space on the bleachers.
The UI currently has received orders from season ticket customers for more than 14,600 chairbacks – approximately 2,000 more than a year ago. Season-long rental costs $49. However, orders placed on Saturday during the annual “Kids and Kinnick” event come with a savings of $5. To place an order, visit the information booths located at gates A and M.
And, speaking of Saturday, if you plan to be in attendance and have ordered a chairback, don’t panic if it is not yet installed. Installation is ongoing and will be completed the week prior to the 2009 season opener against Northern Iowa.
The UI will also be offering fans the opportunity to rent chairbacks for single-game use. Single-game rentals will cost $8 per chairback. Information booths will be located near gates A, G, H and M on game days.
