PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND, CANADA – University of Iowa sophomore swimmer Danielle Carty placed third in the 100-meter backstroke at the 2009 Canada Games Aug. 26. Carty qualified with a time of 1:01.50 in the preliminary round before posting a time of 1:00.41 in the finals.
“Danielle continues to improve every race,” said Iowa Assistant Swimming Coach Kirk Hampleman. “We are very excited for her upcoming events in the Canada Games.” Carty has two events remaining in the Canada Games.
She will swim the 50-meter backstroke to leadoff the 200-medley relay tonight (Aug. 27) before competing in the 50-meter individual backstroke tomorrow (Aug. 28).
