IOWA CITY, IA – The University of Iowa track and field teams completed day one of a pair of two-day weekend competitions on Friday. The men’s squad competed in the 200 meters at the Razorback Invitational, hosted by the University of Arkansas, and freshmen Missy Miller, Kyle Reid, and Katie Truedson were in action at the Jack Johnson Invite in Minneapolis, MN.
Iowa competed in its first combined events this season, with Miller in the Pentathlon and Reid in the Heptathlon. Miller completed the Pentathlon, finishing eighth. Reid completed four out of the seven heptathlon events, and after day one is in 12th place. Reid and the other heptathlon competitors will finish on Saturday. Truedson was in the pole vault, posting a career-best height of 10-1 1/4 (3.08m) to finish 13th.
In Arkansas, freshman Kevin Dibbern led the Hawkeyes in his 200-meter collegiate debut, winning his heat and finishing 13th overall at 21.81. Junior Stephen Bee wasn’t far behind, finishing 16th with a season-best time of 21.91. Along with Dibbern, three other Hawkeyes won their heats, including sophomore D’Juan Richardson (23rd, 22.06), senior Ray Varner (24th, 22.13), and junior Chris Barton (33rd, 22.44).
Iowa will wrap up day two of competition on Saturday in Minneapolis, MN, and Fayetteville, AK, with events set to start around 10:00 a.m. CT in both meets.
