June 14, 2010

IOWA CITY, IA – University of Iowa volleyball fans can get personal with their favorite Hawkeyes by checking out hawkeyesports.com’s Summer Spotlight. The 2010 Hawkeyes understand the excitement that accompanies summer vacation – long days, trips to the pool, spending countless hours with friends – so they’re using the official website of the Iowa Hawkeyes to connect with their fans and share a little bit about themselves. Today’s Summer Spotlight is Paige Stevens, a junior civil engineering major from Naperville, IL.

What was your favorite memory from the 2009 season?
“Beating Wisconsin in five sets on the Big Ten Network at home.”

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?
“I have never broken a bone, which is quite an accomplishment since I’ve played many sports (including contact sports) all my life… knock on wood!”

Why did you choose the University of Iowa and Iowa Volleyball?
“I loved that it was part of the Big Ten because I knew there would be intense competition. I loved the atmosphere and beauty of the campus.”

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
“Australia, or I would love to drive across the Millau bridge in France.”

Favorite thing about Iowa Volleyball Team?
“I love how much fun we have on and off the court.”

What super power would you most like to have? Why?
“Super speed, because I am not very fast now.”

If you could play another sport in college what would it be and why?
“Soccer. I played for 10 years and it was my favorite sport growing up.”

Most played song (& by whom) on your ipod?
“Great question… there are too many most played songs on my IPod, I listen to pretty much anything, just depends on the mood I’m in.”

What is the best characteristic about you?
“My strong work ethic.”

What is something you can’t live without? Why?
“My IPod, because I can’t go a day without listening to music.”

Future plans after graduating from the University of Iowa?
“Possibly going to grad school for architecture, otherwise finding a job in Chicago.”

Finish the sentence…
I play best when… I am in a really good mood and when school is going well.

The best thing about volleyball is… the competitive fight and finesse you must have to perform at the highest level every single time you touch the ball.

I hope to be remembered in life for… my willingness to push myself at any and every aspect of life.

One day I will… be on the design team for some famous establishment or incredible structure.
