BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION
The University of Iowa is seeking applicants and nominations for Athletic Trainer. In addition to serving as an Athletic Trainer, working closely with the Director of Athletic Training Services and Associate Director of Athletic Training Services, the selected applicant will work closely with the team physicians and extended sports medicine staff regarding the care and management of injuries and illnesses. Specific sport assignments to be determined by Director of Athletic Training Services, Director of UI Sports Medicine Center, and Director of Athletics. There are clinical responsibilities to supervise curriculum students and to assist in clinical instruction.

QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline or a license to practice Physical Therapy or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. N.A.T.A.B.O.C. certification in athletic training is necessary along with eligibility for Iowa state athletic trainer license. Must have demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and sports medicine standards of care, excellent organizational and supervisory skills, strong communication skills, excellent self-motivation, a strong commitment to professional growth, and an interest in working in a comprehensive sports medicine environment.Preferred Qualifications: Strong preference will be given to candidates with experiences as follows: a) 2-5 years of NCAA Division 1 Soccer athletic training experience or equivalent, since achieving BOC certification b) background as an ACI within the past 2-5 years, c) completion of master’s degree, and d) candidates that can most effectively meet the progressive needs of the Iowa Athletic Training Program.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Full-time, 12-month annual appointment. Salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
