AUSTIN, Tex. – The University of Iowa women’s golf team completed two rounds at the 2010 Challenge at Onion Creek Monday. The Hawkeyes carded a 595 (300-295) at the par 70, 5947 yard Onion Creek Golf Club, ending the day tied for ninth out of 15 teams. Coastal Carolina (574), Iowa State (575) and Michigan (575) sit atop the team leader board.
Sophomore Kristi Cardwell posted the team-low 36-hole score for the day (143, +3). Her score included a second round 69 (-1), a career best. She enters Tuesday tied for 11th.
Junior Chelsea Harris shot a 147 (+7), finishing the day in a 27th place tie. Senior Lauren Forbes recorded a 150 (+10) to end the day tied for 39th. Senior Laura Cilek and sophomore Gigi DiGrazia rounded out the Iowa scorecard. They both carded 156’s (+16).
“We hit the ball really well but just couldn’t get the putts to fall,” said Head Coach Kelly Crawford. “I’m pleased with our play and so proud of Kristi and her personal best round of 69. We’ll get it tomorrow.”
The final 18-holes of the event will be played Tuesday starting at 8:30 a.m. (CT). Live scoring will once again be available at Golfstat.com
