IOWA CITY, Iowa – – The University of Iowa women’s golf team will welcome high school senior Lauren English of Bloomington, Ill., in the fall of 2011 after signing her to a National Letter of Intent. English is the second member of the 2011 class for Iowa’s women’s golf program, joining Shelby Phillips of Gilbert, Ariz.
“We are so excited that Shelby and Lauren will be joining our program next fall,” commented Head Coach Kelly Crawford. “Both are top ranked players who will bring tremendous experience to our team. They are both solid ball strikers and very consistent players. We are totally thrilled that Lauren and Shelby are Hawkeyes!”

In 2009, English won four of six 18-hole high school events, placing second in the two she did not win. The two second place finishes came at Illinois High School sectional and regional events. She posted an eighth place finish at the 36-hole state meet. English ended the season with a 74.2 average, winning the individual conference championship.
