Hawkeyes To Host Multi Event Clinic

IOWA CITY, IA – The University of Iowa track and field program is inviting coaches and athletes to join the Hawkeyes at the 2011 University of Iowa Track and Field Sprinters, Horizontal Jumps and Hurdles Clinics February 20 and March 6 at the UI Recreation Building. Iowa assistant coaches Joey Woody and Clive Roberts and volunteer coaches John Raffensperger and Jason Wakenight will be there with current Hawkeyes to instruct athletes.

The coaches will teach maximum speed mechanics, start and acceleration, hurdle training, race strategy and sprint training techniques among other valuable skills. Each of the groups will have event specific performance skill instruction in order to enhance each participant’s individual ability.

The clinics are open to all high school boys and girls as well as high school coaches. Athletes are encouraged to attend both sessions to learn the coaching methods of Coach Woody and Coach Roberts as well as former and current elite Hawkeye athletes.
