IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa volleyball program has added four members to the 2011 roster. Prep athletes Megan Makuck, Kari Mueller and Allison O’Deen will join the Hawkeyes in the fall of 2011. Grace Burns will join the Hawkeyes this spring after competing last fall at Grand Valley State.
Makuck played her prep volleyball at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Atlanta, GA. She was a team captain on last season’s state championship team and a member of the A5 Volleyball Club.
Mueller prepped at Iowa City High School. She earned first team all-state honors and was named Mississippi Valley Conference Player of the Year in 2010. Mueller played in the Iowa Senior All-Star Match in 2010 and was a member of the 2008 USA Girl’s National Volleyball Championship team.
Allison O’Deen played her prep volleyball at Iowa City West High School. She was a four-year letterwinner and two-time first team all-state honoree. She was a team captain on the 2010 state championship team and is a member of the West High Hall of Fame.
Grace Burns is a native of Geneva, IL. She prepped at Geneva High School before attending Grand Valley State in 2010. During her freshman season, Burns helped the Lakers reach the Elite 8 of the NCAA Division II National Championships.
Iowa now has seven newcomers committed to join the Hawkeyes in 2011. Erin Leppek, Alexandra Lovell and Emily Yanny signed their National Letters of Intent to join the Hawkeyes last November.
