IOWA CITY, Iowa – – The University of Iowa men’s cross country team has been named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team. The 2010 Hawkeyes compiled a team cumulative 3.05 GPA and placed seventh at the NCAA Midwest Regional.
“Earning this honor speaks to the level of commitment our student-athletes put towards their academics,” said Head Coach Larry Wieczorek. “It’s our goal to excel both in the classroom and on the cross country course. This team is a great representation of that goal and the Hawkeye cross country program.”
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have competed at their respective NCAA regional championship. A total of 152 institutions represent 31 conferences that compose the group.
