Ticket Prices Announced for 2011-12

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The cost for tickets to home games of the University of Iowa football team will increase $2 per game for the general public and UI faculty and staff in 2011, the UI Athletics Department announced Tuesday. The UI also said there will be no increase to the cost of tickets for men’s basketball, women’s basketball and wrestling.

The increase in ticket prices will move the cost of a season ticket purchased by a member of the general public for the seven home games of the 2011 UI football team to $374 each. The cost for a season ticket purchased by a member of the UI faculty and staff will move to $304 each. Season tickets purchased by UI students will move to $175 to reflect a $1 increase per ticket.

If available, single game tickets will be sold at the following prices: $70 each for Iowa’s game against Big Ten Conference rival Michigan; $65 each for Iowa’s games against league rivals Indiana, Northwestern, and Michigan State; and $57 each for Iowa’s non-conference games against Tennessee Tech, Pittsburgh and Louisiana-Monroe. As in the past, a limited number of tickets for certain home games will be discounted for sale to groups and boys and girls 18 years old and younger.

There will be no increase in ticket prices for men’s basketball in 2011-12 However, the Hawkeyes will play 20 total home games next year – three more than in 2010-11. That increase will result in the following season ticket prices: $296 each for the general public, $252 each for UI faculty and staff, and $90 each for UI students. UI students who purchase season tickets will again receive free admission to one non-conference and one Big Ten home game.

Tickets purchased on a game day for home men’s basketball games will continue to cost $12 each for non-conference games, $20 for Big Ten-ACC Challenge and Big Ten weekday games, and $25 each for games played against Big Ten opponents on weekends. Discount priced youth and group tickets will be available for select games.

Season tickets purchased by a member of the general public for the 2011-12 home games of the UI women’s basketball team will remain at a cost of $70 each. Season tickets purchased by a member of the UI faculty and staff, and fans age 55 or older will cost $56 each.

Tickets purchased on a game day will continue to cost $9 each for adults and $5 each for youth on weekend games only. Discount priced group tickets will be available for select games.

The Hawkeyes’ home schedule for next year includes 15 games – the same number of games played in Carver-Hawkeye Arena in 2010-11 by Bluder’s Bunch.

Season tickets purchased by a member of the general public for the 2011-12 home dual meets of the UI wrestling team will remain at a cost of $67 each. Season tickets purchased by a member of the UI faculty and staff will cost $55 each. Single dual meet tickets will continue to be $13 each purchased in advance and $15 each purchased on day for premium events and $10 and $12, respectively, for other dual meets.

The Hawkeyes’ home schedule for next year includes seven dual meets – the same number of dual meets staged in 2010-11.

The UI has enjoyed tremendous success at the gate in 2010-11. The Iowa football team sold out all seven of its home games in 2010 and finished the season ranked 21st nationally in per game attendance with an average of 70,585.

The UI men’s basketball program will enter Saturday’s final regular season game against Purdue averaging 11,602 fans per game. Iowa averaged 9,550 fans per game in 2009-10, 10,381 in 2008-09 and 10,761 in 2007-08.

The UI women’s basketball program enjoyed a 69 percent increase in attendance in 2010-11. The Hawkeyes’ average of 5,823 fans per game currently ranks 13th nationally. Bluder’s Bunch ranked 32nd nationally in per game attendance a year ago with an average of 3,488.

The UI wrestling team led the nation and set a new school record for dual meet attendance with its average of 8,208 fans for the seven home dual meets on the Hawkeyes’ 2010-11 schedule.
