Jacksonville, Fla. – Former Iowa track and cross country star, Meghan Armstrong, ran the USA 15km Road Championship, March 13. The 34th annual event was held in Jacksonville, Fla., and showcased the nation’s most avid distance runners, ranging in age from 7 to 86.
Armstrong, a four time All-American, placed fifth in the race. The Tualatin, Ore. native ran the length of the course in 51.18. Armstrong currently races professionally for the Team USA-Minnesota.
While at Iowa, Armstrong was a Big Ten Champion in the 3k and 10k events. Armstrong was also the first woman in program history to earn a Big Ten Athlete of the Week honor April 25, 2008.
“We are pleased with Meghan’s continued success and just as with Diane’s [Nukuri] performance in Los Angeles,” head women’s track and field and cross country coach Layne Anderson said. “We are excited to have another former Hawkeye competing at a high level professionally.”
