THIS WEEK
The University of Iowa women’s golf team will compete at the 31st annual Lady Buckeye Invitational April 16-17. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Ohio State, will be played at the par 72, 6,275-yard Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Club. Thirty-six holes will be completed on Saturday before Sunday’s final round. Play will begin both days with an 8:30 a.m. (CT) shotgun start. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.

QUOTING HEAD COACH Kelly Crawford
“We are putting a lot of time into short game this week, as the Scarlet Course can be demanding. We have to do a better job saving strokes around the green. Just one more up and down per player, per round, can make a significant difference in our score and our place in the field.”

THE COMPETITION
The 12-team field will include six teams ranked in the Golfweek top 50, four of which hail from the Big Ten Conference. In-state rival Iowa State, tabbed 16th, is the highest ranked team set to compete. No. 31 Ohio State, the two-time defending champion, won last year’s event after shooting a 919 (304-311-304, +55). Iowa finished 10th in 2010.

SERVING AS A MEASURING STICK
Iowa will face eight Big Ten teams in its final tournament before the Big Ten Championships April 22-24. Conference foes include; Illinois, Indiana, No. 22 Michigan State, No. 38 Minnesota, No. 39 Northwestern, No. 31 Ohio State and Penn State.

THE LINEUP
Kristi Cardwell, Woojay Choi, Laura Cilek, Gigi DiGrazia, Lauren Forbes and Chelsea Harris will compete for the Hawkeyes this weekend. The top four scores will be counted each round.
