COLUMBUS, Ohio – – The University of Iowa women’s golf team carded a 657 (326-331, +81) Saturday during the first two rounds at the Lady Buckeye Invitational. The Hawkeyes will enter Sunday’s final round in 11th place. Michigan State (303-300=603, +27) leads the 12-team field, followed by Kent State (312-309=621, +45) and host Ohio State (310-313=623, +47).
Sophomore Kristi Cardwell fired a team-low round of 77 (+5) during the second round to end the day in a 27th place tie at 159 (82-77, +15). Junior Chelsea Harris and senior Laura Cilek both carded first-round 79’s (+7) to finish with 162 (79-83, +18) and 164 (79-88, +23). Senior Lauren Forbes completed the Hawkeye scorecard at the play six, count four tournament with a 172 (86-86, +28). Freshman Woojay Choi also competed for Iowa. Choi fired a 174 (89-85, +30).
The tournament’s third and final round will begin Sunday on the par 72, 6,228-yard Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Club at 8:30 a.m. (CT) with a shotgun start. Live scoring will be provided at Golfstat.com.
