IOWA CITY, Iowa — Justin Austin and Troy Doris broke a pair of school records last weekend at the USA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Austin earned fifth place in the 200 meter finals with a school record performance of 20.31. That mark topped his previous record of 20.46, set at the 2011 Big Ten Championships. Austin advanced to the finals by winning his heat in the opening round and the semifinals. He owns Iowa’s school record in both the indoor and outdoor 200 meters.
Doris topped his own outdoor triple jump school record with a leap of 54-0 (16.46m). The junior placed 10th in the event and wrapped his Hawkeye debut season with school records in the indoor and outdoor triple jump, a pair of Big Ten titles and two All-America honors.
Big Ten champion Bethany Praska advanced to Eugene with a school record in the 800 meters at the USA Championships qualifying event. She finished 16th at the Championships, clocking a 2:05.53. Praska ended her Hawkeye career with three Big Ten titles and five school records.
Big Ten medalists Ethan Holmes and D’Juan Richardson placed 18th and 22nd, respectively, in the 400-meter hurdles. Holmes clocked a 51.51 while Richardson finished in 53.55. Holmes also placed 27th with a 13.93 time in the 110-meter hurdles.
Hawkeye freshman Nathan Prom finished 19th in the 800 meters (1:56.19) at the USA Junior Championships.
