IOWA CITY, Iowa – – Specialists from UI Sports Medicine and UI Athletics will discuss the latest information about concussions and how to keep youth athletes safer at a free community seminar on Tuesday, July 19, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame Karro Building, located at 2425 Prairie Meadow Drive in Iowa City.
Iowa recently passed a new law concerning youth athletes and concussions. The law, coupled with advancements in medical guidelines and technology, helps professionals evaluate and treat concussions better than ever before.
The expert panel will discuss what the new law means for coaches, players and parents, the importance of sideline evaluations, guidelines for treatment, and diagnostic tests.
