IOWA CITY, Iowa — Go Hawks! Go ANF! If you’re not going to be at historic Kinnick Stadium Saturday for the annual Kids at Kinnick event then consider making your way to the Iowa State Fair Saturday and visit with a pair of Hawkeyes then make your way to the Pioneer Livestock Pavilion at 4 p.m. to cheer Iowa Farm Bureau’s “ANF Angus” at the annual Governor’s Charity Steer Show.
“ANF” is the prized cow of 4H-er Cole Lauterbach of Van Meter. Cole is the son of Lance and Sherry Lauterbach. “ANF” will be shown by Brian Waddingham, executive director of the Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers. And, as always, proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Ronald McDonald Houses of Iowa.
A pair of former Hawkeyes – including an NBA World Champion – are scheduled to appear at the University of Iowa’s exhibit inside the Varied Industries Building on Saturday. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., former UI golfer Scott Carpenter will be “in the house.” From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., former Hawkeye and Chicago Bull Bobby Hansen will be available for autographs.

And, of course, while in Des Moines, don’t forget to stop by the ANF Tailgate Party @ Farm Bureau Park located just off the grand concourse, across from the grandstands. The first 100 people that visit the IFB Park each day of the fair will receive a FREE ANF t-shirt. Everyone who visits can register to with the Ultimate ANF Fan Experience.
