HARRIS LEADS HAWKEYES
Senior Chelsea Harris led the Hawkeyes with a 77.1 per round average during the fall season. The mark was the 15th-best scoring average in school history. The Normal, Ill., native also owns the program’s third-best scoring average, as she posted a career-best 75.7 average in the fall of 2010.
YOUTH SHINES DURING FALL
Freshman Lauren English shot 938 strokes over 12 rounds for a 78.3 fall scoring average, the best per round average by a freshman since Tyrette Metzendorf led the team in the fall of 2006 with a 77.2 average. Fellow freshman Shelby Phillips ended the fall one stroke off of English’s pace with 939 strokes over 12 rounds.
IMMEDIATE RESULTS
The Hawkeyes posted the third-best team season scoring average in school history during Megan Menzel’s first fall as head coach. Iowa took an average score of 76.9. The record is 76.3. It was set in the fall of 2010. Sophomore Kristi Cardwell fired the team’s low-round of 70 (-1) during the second round of the Lady Northern Invitational on Oct. 10
CILEK NAMED ASSISTANT COACH
Head coach Megan Menzel named former Hawkeye Laura Cilek as her assistant coach on Jan. 17. Cilek was a four-year letterwinner and a four-time nominee for the Big Ten Sportsmanship at Iowa from 2007-11. The Iowa City native served as the interim assistant coach during the fall season.
