IOWA CITY, Iowa — Former University of Iowa track and field standout Bethany Praska placed fourth in the 800 meters at the USA Track and Field Championships last week in Albuquerque, N.M. Praska placed second in her preliminary heat to earn a spot in finals, where she crossed the finish line in 2:04.93.
The final event of the VISA Championship series was held at the ABQ Convention Center and featured America’s finest runners, jumpers, throwers, and race walkers competing for a chance to represent the United States at the IAAF World Indoor Track & Field Championships in Istanbul, Turkey. Phoebe Wright and Erica Moore finished 1-2 and will represent the United States in the 800 meters.
Praska graduated from the University of Iowa in 2011 as a three-time Big Ten champion and owner of four school records. She earned All-America honors in both the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2011. She continues to train in Iowa City with Iowa assistant track and field coach Clive Roberts.
