IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa volleyball program announced today that Loyola-Marymount freshman Alessandra Dietz will transfer to the University of Iowa this summer. Dietz played at Loyola-Marymount in 2011 following a distinguished prep career at Marian High School in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. She is the fourth member of Iowa’s 2012 recruiting class.

Dietz was a high school teammate of Hawkeye freshman Alex Lovell from 2007-10. The 6-1 middle blocker helped lead Marian to three division championships from 2008-10 and a pair of state titles in 2009 and 2010. She earned all-region honors in 2009 and 2010, and was named first team all-state in 2010 while leading the state champions in kills, blocks and service aces.

Dietz played club volleyball with Lovell and Hawkeye freshman Erin Leppek. The trio led the 17 team to a national title at the 2010 USA Volleyball National Championships and a fifth place finish at the AAU National Championships.

Dietz will begin taking classes at the university this summer.
