May 2, 2012

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior Chelsea Harris was honored with the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award by the conference on Tuesday. The honor goes to student-athletes who display sportsmanship and ethical behavior, are in good academic standing and demonstrate good citizenship outside of athletics. Harris earned the honor for the first time in her career.

Harris led the Hawkeyes this season with a 76.28 scoring average over 32 rounds. The Normal, Ill., native registered three top 10 finishes in 2011-12, including a career-best second place showing at the Saluki Invitational on March 25-26. She leaves Iowa owning the 54-hole school record (213).

Current assistant coach Laura Cilek was Iowa’s Sportsmanship Honoree the previous four seasons.
