Volleyball Announces Dates for Coaches Clinic

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa volleyball program will host its fourth annual Coaches Clinic on August 11-12 at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena practice gym. The two-day clinic will include clinical instruction from the Hawkeye coaching staff and special guests Tom Keating, Jenny McDowell and Gale Mote.

Keating won 17 conference championships and 11 state titles at Iowa high school powerhouse Dubuque. He was named NFHS and prepvolleyball.com National Coach of the Year in 2003 and was inducted into the NHSACA Hall of Fame in 2002. He was named Iowa High School Coach of the Year seven times. During his time at Dubuque Wahlert, Keating collected an impressive 776-82 record.

McDowell is the head coach at Emory University. She was named NCAA Division III National Coach of the Year after leading Emory to the 2008 NCAA title. She’s led Emory to the postseason for 15 straight years and owns a career record of 476-123.

Mote is the owner of Gale Mote Associates, an organization that leads individuals and organizations to heightened levels of effectiveness and success. She has worked with the Iowa volleyball team for the past three years with a focus on team chemistry, goals setting and communication.
