Thursday is 'Iowa Hawkeye Day' at John Deere Classic

July 11, 2012

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Friends of the University of Iowa and fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes who plan to celebrate the PGA TOUR’s annual return to the Heartland Thursday at the first round of the 2012 John Deere Classic are invited to wear their school colors proudly as part of the second annual “Iowa Hawkeye Day.”

Again this year, fans of the Hawkeyes are invited to stop by the official home of the Iowa Hawkeyes at TPC Deere Run – the black-and-gold spirited tent located immediately off the No. 9 fairway – to celebrate the Iowa Hawkeyes with other friends and fans. Stop by and register to win a variety of prizes, ranging from season and single-game tickets Iowa football, men’s and women’s basketball and wrestling home events, souvenir balls autographed by members of the UI coaching staff or full sets of the souvenir bobbleheads that have been given away at select home games of Fran McCaffery and Lisa Bluder’s UI basketball teams over the past two years.

Schedule posters and schedule cards will also be available. Herky the Hawkeye will be at the tent from 2-4 p.m. for pictures. Fans will also be able to take their own photographs with life-sized cutouts of select UI coaches.

The UI tent will be open beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday and will remain open until late afternoon.
