3 Hawkeyes Finish Opening Round at Ball State

Round 1 Results

MUNCIE, Ind. — The University of Iowa men’s golf team had three freshmen complete round one Monday at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, an individual tournament hosted by Ball State at the Delaware Country Club.

Nate Yankovich shot one-over par in his first competitive round as a Hawkeye, carding a 71. Yankovich sits in seventh place through the first round. Landon Kowalski, who also competed at the Golden Gopher Invitational in Iowa’s season-opener, fired a three-over par, 73. Kowalski is tied for 14th through round one. Voramate Aussarassakorn shot a 76 (+6), and was in 25th place after the morning round.

Monday’s action was supposed to consist of 36 holes of play, but a delay prevented the second round from finishing. Play stopped at 7 p.m. with every player still on the course. The second round will conclude Tuesday morning, with the final 18 holes being played immediately after.

Play will resume Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.
