THIS WEEK
The University of Iowa track and field team will split competitors between the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, and the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
IOWA STATE CLASSIC
The Iowa State multi-event competition is set to begin Thursday at 12:30 p.m. (CT) and continue through Friday. All other events will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday and continue through Saturday. The Iowa State Classic will be held at the Lied Recreational Center on the campus of Iowa State University. Live results will be available on the hawkeyesports.com track and field schedule page.
TYSON INVITATIONAL
The Tyson Invitational is set to begin Friday at 12 p.m. (CT), and continue through Saturday. The invite will be held at the Randal Tyson Track Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas. Live results will be available on the hawkeyesports.com track and field schedule page.
TRIPLE JUMP DUO
Freshman Klyvens Delaunay and sophomore Babatunde Amosu each recorded personal bests in the triple jump at the Meyo Invitational on Feb. 2. Delauny’s leap of 51-3 1/2 (15.63m) ranks third all-time at Iowa, while Amosu’s jump of 49-2 1/2 (15.00m) ranks fourth.
MOORE TAKES TITLE
Raven Moore took the women’s 200 meters title at the Meyo Invitational on Feb. 2. The junior clocked a personal-best time of 24.30. That time ranks ninth all-time at Iowa. Moore also holds the ninth best time in Iowa history in the 60 meters (7.59).
LEWIS CRACKS TOP TEN
Sophomore Kevin Lewis recorded a personal-best time of 8:12.36 in the 3,000 meters at the Meyo Invitational on Feb. 2. Lewis’ time ranks seventh all-time at Iowa.
LEACOCK LEAPS TO THIRD
Junior Carisa Leacock recorded a personal best long jump leap of 19-2 3/4 (5.86m) at the Meyo Invitational on Feb. 1. That mark ranks third all-time at Iowa. Junior Zinnia Miller (18-9; 5.71m) and sophomore Sarah Ryan (18-8; 5.69m) rank eighth and ninth, respectively, on the long jump all-time list.
800 METERS SWITCH
Senior Ryan Weir and junior Nathan Prom switched places on the 800 meters all-time top 10 list. Weir moved to fourth after clocking a personal best time of 1:49.97 at the Meyo Invitational on Feb. 2. Prom moved to fifth on the all-time list. He also recorded a personal best time (1:50.58) at the Meyo Invitational.
MEET THE RECORD HOLDERS
Four Hawkeyes currently hold indoor school records. Senior Justin Austin holds records in the 60 meters (6.69) and 200 meters (20.80), while senior Jordan Mullen holds the 60-meter hurdles (7.74) record. Senior Kyle Reid owns the men’s heptathlon record (5,257 points), and junior Jasmine Simpson holds the school record in the weight throw (62-6 1/2; 19.06m).
