“I felt a lot better at the end of the meet than I did at the end of the first day,” Larry Wieczorek, director of track and field, said of the men’s team. “We fought hard today like I wanted us too. We are not near the type of team we want to be this year, but we are certainly building momentum heading into the outdoor season.”

Khanishah Williams reached the victory stand in the women’s high jump. The sophomore cleared a height of 5-9 ¾ (1.77m) to finish third. Junior Zinnia Miller (13th; 5-6; 1.68m) and freshman Tayo Oladele-Ajose (17th; 5-4 ¼; 1.63m) also competed in the event.

“This was a disappointing championship performance in what has been a disappointing season,” head coach Layne Anderson said of Hawkeye women’s team. “We need to get a lot of individuals healthy for outdoor, and turn our performance around. Our placing this weekend does not reflect the potential of our program. It starts with me as the head coach. I certainly expect more of myself, our staff, and the team. This is an unacceptable level of performance.”

The Hawkeyes will return to action March 2, when they split competitors between Last Chance Meets in Ames, Iowa, and Notre Dame, Ind.
