PEORIA, Ariz. — The University of Iowa women’s golf team currently sits in 9th place the Westbrook Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin at the Westbrook Village Golf Club. The Hawkeyes carded a two-round total of 612 (+36). Iowa fired a first round total of 304 (+16) and a second round 308 (+20).
Senior Kristi Cardwell paced Iowa on Sunday. Cardwell shot a 74 (+2) in her first round and finished strong, as she birdied her last two holes. In her second round, Cardwell carded a 78 (+6), carding 11 holes at or below par. Cardwell is tied for 22nd.
Freshman Amy Ihm continued her strong play in the spring season, posting a 76 (+4) and a 77 (+5) in her two rounds on Sunday. Ihm played extremely steady golf, paring her first nine holes to start the day. In total, Ihm collected 25 pars in her two rounds of play.
Briana Midkiff matched Ihm as she came in with identical scores of 76 (+4) and a 77 (+5) in her two rounds of play. Midkiff collected five birdies on the day, in addition to 20 pars. Both Ihm and Midkiff are tied for 29th individually.
Sophomore Lauren English shot a 78 (+6) in her first round and did one better her second round, carding a 77 (+5). English pared 15 of the 18 holes in her second round, including seven in a row to finish. English is tied for 42nd individually.
Sophomore Shelby Phillips shot a 79 (+7) in her first round and improved her second round score by two strokes, coming in with a 77 (+5) in her second round. Phillips collected three birdies and eight pars in her second round. Phillips is tied for 45th individually.
Karly Grouwinkel, competing as an individual, posted a 79 (+7) in her first round and a 81 (+9) in her second round. In total, Grouwinkel carded 21 pars in her two rounds of play. Grouwinkel is tied for 66th individually.
Play resumes Monday at the Westbrook Spring Invitational. Due to frost delay, play will begin at 10 a.m. CT.
