USA Championships on deck for former Hawkeyes

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Three former University of Iowa track and field All-Americans will compete for national crowns at the 2013 USA Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend in Albuquerque, N.M.

Bethany Praska and Erik Sowinski will run the women’s and men’s 800 meters, while Jeffery Herron competes in the high jump at the Albuquerque Convention Center on March 1-3. Praska, who won the 800 meters Big Ten title in 2011, competes in the first round Saturday at 3:05 p.m. (CT).

Herron, the school record holder in the high jump, competes in the finals Saturday at 3:10 p.m. (CT).

Sowinski, a school record holder and former Big Ten Champion, competes in the men’s 800 meters first round at 3:25 p.m. (CT).

The USA Indoor Track & Field Championships serve at the final indoor meet in the USATF Championship Series. Universal Sports will televise the event from 5-7 p.m. (CT) on Saturday. NBC Sports Network will televise the finals on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. (CT).
