Weekly Release

The University of Iowa women’s golf team will continue its spring season at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the Mountain View Golf Club, 6,227 yards, par 71, hosted by Kansas State and Missouri. Additionally, the Hawkeyes will be competing against Iowa State and Harvard at the Red Mountain Ranch Country Club, 6,653 yards, par 72, on March 18th and 19th.

“The team has done a lot of work the past two weeks in preparation for the Mountain View Collegiate. We have Shelby back healthy which will be huge for us and the team gained a lot of confidence in our final round in Phoenix. Additionally, we are really looking forward to playing our two matches at Red Mountain. They are very generous to host us and it is a great facility for us to work on our games. Harvard and Iowa State are both solid teams so it will be a great opportunity for us to see where we are as a team. It is always fun to play against some of the best teams in the country.”

Kristi Cardwell, Lauren English, Shelby Phillips, Briana Midkiff, and Amy Ihm will be competing for the Hawkeyes over spring break.

The Hawkeyes will be competing against 13 schools at the Mountain View Collegiate: Texas Tech, Texas State, Indiana, Missouri, San Jose State, College of Charleston, Kansas State, UNC Greensboro, Colorado State, North Texas, Wichita State, Wyoming, and Redlands C.C.

Freshman Amy Ihm put together another strong tournament at the Westbrook Invitational, carding a 54-hole score of 228 (+12), a career low. Ihm finished tied for 31st. Additionally, Ihm posted a career 18-hole low, firing a 75 (+3) in her final round. Ihm will be competing for the Hawkeyes once again over spring break in the Mountain View Collegiate as well as the matches against Harvard and Iowa State.
