IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa volleyball team has released its schedule for the 2013 spring season. Iowa will compete in four events.
The Hawkeyes open competition at Nebraska-Omaha on March 30. The match is scheduled to start at noon.
“Our spring schedule will be a little bit different,” said UI head coach Sharon Dingman. “In the past, we have played in tournaments where we will play five or six different teams. This spring, we are trying to play more `match-like’ competition. For example, when we go to Omaha, we are playing Nebraska-Omaha in a single, three-out-of-five set match — similar to the fall.”
Iowa returns to Iowa City on April 6 to host Missouri S&T (10 a.m.) and Western Illinois (2 p.m.) in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
The Hawkeyes travel to Chicago to compete in the Loyola-Chicago Tournament on April 13 before concluding spring action at the St. Louis University Tournament on April 20.
Start times for the Loyola-Chicago Tournament and St. Louis University Tournament will be announced at a later time.
“From what we have seen so far, we are really pleased with the mentality the players bring to the gym and weight room every day,” said Dingman. “We have to maximize our time. The team has been great; there has been a nice pace to practice.”
The Hawkeyes will return 15-of-16 letterwinners in 2013.
