Hawkeyes Head to French Lick

THIS WEEK
The University of Iowa women’s golf team competes in the 2013 Big Ten Golf Championships in French Lick, Ind., April 26-28. The 54-hole tournament will be held at the historic Donald Ross Golf Course (par 72, 6,121 yards). Golfweek Magazine ranked the Donald Ross Course No. 2 in the state of Indiana. Live scoring will be available via golfstat.com throughout the tournament.

“We will be ready for Big Ten’s. We will definitely need to be decisive at French Lick and commit to our game plan and our shots. Our team will be patient. They have learned a lot this year and we are due to put three good rounds together. I know if we can minimize our mistakes, we will be competitive.”

THE LINE-UP
Kristi Cardwell, Lauren English, Shelby Phillips, Briana Midkiff, Nicole Rae, and Gigi DiGrazia will be competing for the Hawkeyes.

THE COMPETITION
The Big Ten boasts three teams in the top 25 of the Golfweek rankings. Purdue is ranked ninth, while Northwestern comes in at No. 24 and Michigan State is No. 25.

LAST YEAR AT THE BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Hawkeyes finished 10th last year at the Big Ten Championships with a 54-hole score of 929 (+65). Michigan State was crowned champions as they shot a 54-hole score of 885 (+21).

ENGLISH LEADS THE WAY AT LADY BUCKEYE
Sophomore Lauren English paced the Hawkeyes this past weekend at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational, hosted by Ohio State. English fired rounds of 78, 78, and 82 to post a 54-hole score of 238 (+22). English finished the tournament tied for 37th.
