Schrulle Earns Academic All-District Recognition

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa graduate student Mareike Schrulle has been named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District women’s track & field/cross country team. The announcement was made today by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Schrulle, a graduate student from Arnsburg, Germany, earned a 4.03 grade point average while majoring in leisure studies. She is a two-time academic All-Big Ten honoree, has contributed to two USTFCCCA all-academic teams, and in 2012 earned USTFCCCA academic individual honors.

Schrulle is a two-time NCAA Track & Field qualifier, and in 2012 she earned All-America honors following a seventh place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. She ranks among the school’s all-time top 10 in five events, and in 2013 she was recognized by the Big Ten for her outstanding sportsmanship.
