Fall Spirit Spectacular: A Success

Oct. 16, 2013

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa spirit squads hosted its annual Fall Spirit Spectacular in Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Oct. 12. The event drew more than 800 cheerleaders and dancers, competing in various divisions to win trophies and ultimately the Grand Championship.

Participants competed with their high school or All-Star teams (teams made up of various members from area schools). Dancers competed either as a team in the jazz, pom, kick or hip-hop divisions or as individuals in the soloist divisions.

Cheerleaders were separated into school divisions and All-Star teams were split into various divisions dependent on age and ability.

The Powerhouse Elite All-Stars won the Dance All-Star Division and the Mason City Mohawk Dance Team won the Dance School Division.

The Iowa Elite Senior Level 4 won the Cheerleading All-Star Division, while Mason City High School claimed the Cheerleading School Division.

Congratulations to all of the participants at the Fall Spirit Spectacular.

The Iowa spirit squads will next be in action at the Black & Gold Blowout on Oct. 25 inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
