Hawkeyes Conclude Multi-Event Competition

AMES, Iowa – The University of Iowa track and field team recorded six personal bests on day two of the Bill Bergan Invitational on Friday. The event was held at the Lied Recreation Athletic Center.

Kassidy Ellis finished seventh, overall, in the women’s pentathlon competition with a personal best point total of 3,266. The sophomore recorded personal bests in the high jump (7th; 5-2 ½; 1.59m), long jump (7th; 16-3 ¼; 4.96m), and shot put (9th; 30-0; 9.14m). She also ran to a seventh-place finishes in the 60-meter hurdles (9.20) and the 800 meters (2:33.31).

Madison Rouw finished ninth, overall, in the women’s pentathlon with a point total of 2,477. The freshman finished seventh in the high jump (5-2 1/2; 1.59m), before finishing ninth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.51) and 800 meters (2:29.02). Rouw also earned a 10th-place finish in the shot put (24-5; 7.44m).

Jack Eckert earned a fifth-place finish in the men’s heptathlon with a point total of 4,956. The senior took the 1,000 meters title when he crossed the line in 2:47.48. Eckert also finished second in the pole vault (24-5 2/4; 4.40m), and recorded a personal best time of 8.61 to finish fourth in the 60-meter hurdles.

Alec Cranford grabbed a sixth-place finish in the men’s heptathlon with a point total of 4,212. The freshman finished fifth in the 1,000 meters when he crossed the line in 3:00.53. He then recorded sixth-place finishes in the pole vault (12-5 ½; 3.80m; PR) and the 60-meter hurdles (9.67).

The Bill Bergan Invitational resumes tomorrow at 10 a.m. (CT).
