IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa junior Babatunde Amosu has been named Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week following his performance at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 19.
Amosu, a native of London, England, grabbed a first-place finish in the men’s triple jump when he posted a personal-best leap of 52-4 ¾ (15.97m). His mark currently ranks second in the Big Ten, sixth in the nation, and third all-time at Iowa.
The Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week award is the first of Amosu’s career, and the Hawkeyes’ first since Adam Hamilton earned the honor in 2007.
Iowa returns to the track this weekend at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. The men’s triple jump begins Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT).
