IOWA CITY, Iowa — Jessica Ip has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Iowa next fall, UI head coach Megan Menzel announced Wednesday.
“We are excited to have Jessica sign her letter of intent to play for the Hawkeyes,” said Menzel. “Jessica is an up and coming player in Canada and continues to show quick progress. She is a very determined individual, with a great work ethic and will be a big help to our line-up this coming fall. Jessica trains side-by-side with great junior players every day, so I anticipate her making the collegiate jump very smoothly.”
Ip, who attends Jean Vanier Catholic High School in Richmond Hill, Ontario, recorded top-10 finishes at the state tournament her junior (ninth) and senior seasons (seventh). She placed among the top-10 in conference competition her freshman (seventh), junior (sixth), and senior seasons (second), while finishing 11th as a sophomore. In 2013, Ip carded a 72, 81, and 77 to tie for sixth at the Ontario Juvenile Girls Tournament. She also participated in volleyball and basketball, serving as a basketball captain and earning team MVP honors in basketball in 2011 and 2012.
“I cannot wait to start this exciting new part of my life,” said Ip, a three-year honor roll student. “I could not have asked for a more amazing environment to pursue my academic and athletic career. I am grateful for this opportunity and will value every moment of it.”
