“The coaching staff wanted to wait to see who was going to step up to lead each team, and I can tell you that both Ben and Tess have been great leaders from the beginning of the season,” Woody said. “They both have set very high goals for the team this year, and both competed very well for the team at the Illinois State meet. They lead by example every day and are great representatives of our program.”

Anderson, a native of Clive, Iowa, has been the Hawkeyes’ number two finisher in both races this season. He finished 14th overall in the Hawkeye Early Bird Invite, and 10th overall at the Illinois State Invite.

Wilberding, native of Troy, Michigan, has two top 15 finishes for the Hawkeyes. She placed second and third, respectively, among her teammates at the Illinois State Invite and the Early Bird Invitational.

The Hawkeyes return to action Oct. 2 at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Indiana. The regular season concludes Oct. 16 at the Bradley Pink Invite, and the postseason begins Nov. 1 at the Big Ten Championships in Evanston, Illinois.
