INDIANAPOLIS — The University of Iowa women’s golf team sits in 12th place following Saturday’s second round of play at the Big Ten Championship. The Hawkeyes posted a 295 (+7) at the Fort Golf Resort in Indianapolis for a two-round total of 587 (+11).
No. 7 Northwestern leads the field (-6; 570), while No. 36 Ohio State sits in second (-3; 573).
Senior Amy Ihm paced the Hawkeyes in the second round, firing a two-under-par 70. Ihm carded an impressive bogey-free round, highlighted by all 18 holes at or below par, including birdies on holes six and seven. The senior is tied for 13th heading into the final round.
Sophomore Jessica Ip recorded the second-best finish on the day for Iowa. Ip made par or better on 12 holes en route to a second-round 75 (+3). Ip is currently tied for 35th.
Junior Jessie Sindlinger posted a 76 (+4) for a two-round score of 147 (+3). Her second round was highlighted by nine holes at par and birdies on holes seven, 14, and 16. The junior is tied for 35th with her teammate.
Freshman Monika Poomcharoen posted a 77 (+5) in second round action to contribute to Iowa’s team total. Her round was highlighted by 13 holes at par. The freshman is tied for 62nd with 18 holes left to play.
Rounding out the Hawkeyes are sophomores Elisa Suarez and Anna Kim, who are tied for 62nd (+9; 79, 74) and 79th (+14; 77, 81), respectively.
Play at the Big Ten Championship concludes tomorrow with tee times off the Fort’s holes one and 10 beginning at 7:30 a.m. (CT). Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
