Freeman Advances at Olympic Trials

INDIANAPOLIS — University of Iowa All-American Deidre Freeman-Huff advanced to Sunday’s 3-meter springboard final at the 2016 USA Diving Olympic Team Trials at the IUPUI Natatorium.
 
The Grinnell, Iowa, native sits in ninth place following the prelims and semifinals with 572.15 points.  Kassidy Cook and Abby Johnston are first and second in the event with 660.85 and 626.55 points, respectively. 
 
The 3-meter champion will earn a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team.  There remains a possibility that a second position may be added if approved by FINA.
 
Former Hawkeye Addison Boschult advanced to the semifinals off the men’s 10-meter. His run ended when he finished 17th with 570.90 points. The top 12 divers advanced to the final.
 
Freeman-Huff’s finals appearance will begin at 3:50 p.m. (CT) Sunday, and the finals will be televised on NBC and NBC Sports.
