Hawkeyes Conclude Day 1 at Paintbrush Invite

DENVER, Colo. — The University of Iowa men’s golf team concluded day one at the Paintbrush Invitational at the Colorado Golf Club. With 34 holes completed the Hawkeyes sit in 10th place after the second round was suspended due to darkness.
 
Sophomore Matthew Walker led the Hawkeyes on Monday, posting a first-round total of 74 (+2). His day was highlighted by three birdies in his opening 18 holes and an even-par front nine. Walker followed up with four birdies through 16 holes in the second round. He is tied for 29th.
 
Freshman Alex Schaake followed Walker with a first-round total of 75 (+3), sitting in a tie for 41st overall. Schaake registered three birdies in his second round with two holes left to play.
 
Senior Raymond Knoll battled back after posting a first round total of 78 (+6). He is currently one-under-par with two holes to go in the second round, with two birdies to show for. Knoll sits in a tie for 47th overall.
 
Senior Carson Schaake followed with a first-round total of 76 (+4).  He posted a back-nine score of one-under-par 35 and is two-over-par through 16 holes of the second round. Schaake is in a tie for 51st.
 
Junior Sam Meuret rounded out the Hawkeye lineup, posting a first-round total of 76 (+4). He is currently four-over-par in his second round, and in a tie for 62nd.
 
The Paintbrush Invitational concludes Tuesday with a shotgun start, following the completion of the second round at 9:30 a.m. (CT).
