Hawkeyes Conclude Day 1 at Greenville Regional Preview

GREENVILLE, N.C. — The University of Iowa women’s golf team concluded the first day at the Greenville Regional Preview. With 33 holes complete, the Hawkeyes sit in tenth-place, after the second round was suspended due to darkness. Iowa posted a score of 315 (+27) on the first 18-holes at the Ironwood Golf Course.
 
TCU currently leads the 18-team field, while Clemson sits in second.
 
Junior Jessica Ip paced the Hawkeyes, carding a first-round total of 80 (+8). Ip posted nine holes at par, adding a birdie on hole two. Ip registered three birdies in the second-round on holes two, 13,and 17. The junior currently sits tied for 20th with two holes left to play.
 
Freshman Sophie Liu followed Ip with a first-round total of 73 (+1). Liu’s first round was highlighted by 16 holes at or below par, including a birdie on hole two. Liu currently sits tied for 25th with three holes left to go in the second-round.
 
Senior Jessie Sindlinger also had a strong day for the Hawkeyes, posting a first-round score of 79 (+7). Sindlinger made par or better on ten holes in her first-round with an impressive four birdies on holes two, three, five, and eight. The senior scored another birdie on hole eight in the second round and is currently tied for 39th with two holes left in the round.
 
Sophomore Shawn Rennegarbe carded an 83 (+11) in first-round play. Rennegarbe played eight holes at or below par in the first-round, and added eight more holes at par and a birdie on hole two in the second-round. The sophomore is currently tied for 65th with two holes left to play.
 
Rounding out the Hawkeyes is Morgan Kukla. The junior carded an 85 (+13) in the first 18-holes, including 10 holes at par and a birdie on hole two. The junior scored two birdies on holes three and 13 in the second-round and is tied for 72nd with two holes left to play.
 
The second-round will pick up Tuesday at 7 a.m. (CT). Each team has between two to four holes remaining to complete the round.  The final round will follow.
