Iowa Tied for 8th at Landfall Tradtion

WILMINGTON, N.C. — The University of Iowa women’s golf team registered a first-round 297 (+9) at the Landfall Tradition on Friday on Dye Course at the Country Club of Landfall. The Hawkeyes are tied for eighth in a field of 18 teams with two rounds to play.
 

Oklahoma leads the event with a 284 (-4), followed by Wake Forest in second with a first-round 288 (E).

Junior Morgan Kukla had the best round for Iowa, posting a one-over-par 73. Kukla made par on five holes of the front nine and added a birdie on hole two. She stayed consistent on the back nine, making par on eight holes and birdieing hole 16. After the first round, the junior is tied for 19th.

Sophomore Shawn Rennegarbe and freshman Sophie Liu ended their day with a 74 (+2). The pair is tied for 30th. Rennegarbe carded 12 holes at-or-below par, including four birdies on holes four, seven, eight, and 14. Liu posted 16 holes at-or-below par, scoring a birdie on hole 18.

Following Rennegarbe and Liu is Jessica Ip. The junior tallied a first-round 76 (+4), two strokes behind her teammates. Ip carded eight holes at par on first nine holes, followed by another seven holes at par and a birdie on hole 18 on the back nine. The junior is tied for 48th.

Rounding out the Hawkeyes is Jessie Sindlinger. The senior registered a 80 (+8) on the first 18 holes with 11 holes at par and birdies on holes three and nine.

Iowa continues action in at the Landfall Tradition on Saturday. The second round is set to begin at 7:30 a.m. (CT).
