PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO — The University of Iowa women’s golf team finished tied for 10th at the El- Tigre Golf Course after posting a 296 (+8) on Tuesday in the final round and finishing with a three-round total of 910 (+46).
Washington won the tournament with a 54-hole score of 873 (+9), while UTSA finished one stroke behind with 874 (+10).
Freshman Sophie Liu paced the Hawkeyes and tied for 24th. The freshman jumped 10 spots from the previous round by firing one-below-par 71 on the final 18 holes for a three-round score of 223 (+7). Her final round was highlighted by nine holes at par and six birdies on holes three, nine, 10, 12, 13, and 16.
Junior Morgan Kukla finished tied for 27th. The junior fired rounds of 80 (+8), 71 (-1), and 74 (+3) for total of 225 (+9). She carded 10 holes at par and four birdies in the final round.
Junior Jessica Ip tied for 31st, registering a 75 (+3) in the final round for a 54-hole score of 226 (+12). She carded 14 holes at-or-below par on the last 18 holes, including a birdie on hole three.
Senior Jessie Sindlinger finished one stroke behind Ip with a three-round total of 227 (+13). The senior fired rounds of 81 (+9), 75 (+3) and 71 (-1) to tie for 35th. Sidlinger posted an impressive 17 holes at-below par in the final round with birdies on holes seven and ten.
Sophomore Krisitin Glesne tied for 52nd with a three-round score of 234 (+18; 82, 74, 78). She recorded 10 holes at-or-below par on the last 18 holes of the tournament, including three birdies.
Sophomore Shawn Rennegarbe tied for 59th with a 54-hole score of 236 (+20; 80, 75, 81). Her final round was highlighted by 11 holes at par and a birdie on hole nine. Rennegarbe and Kukla competed as individuals in the tournament and did not count toward the team score.
Junior Elisa Suarez rounded out the Hawkeye lineup with a three-round total of 240 (+24). She carded a 79 (+7) in the final round with 11 holes at-or-below par.
The Hawkeyes return to action at the Big Ten Championships in Cincinnati, Ohio, on April 21-23.
