Shine, Hawkeyes Earn All-Academic Honors

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa junior Andrea Shine and the men’s and women’s cross country programs have been recognized with U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors.

It marks the 15th consecutive season the women’s team has been recognized for its academic success, compiling a team cumulative 3.57 GPA. The men’s team registered a 3.21cumulative GPA.

Shine is one of 169 Division I female athletes to earn individual honors. In order to qualify for the honor, athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and finish in the top 25 (or 10 percent) at regionals or as an All-American in the national meet.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
