Iowa Divers Set for NCAA Zone D Championships

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Eight University of Iowa divers begin competition in Minneapolis on Monday at the 2018 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships at the Jean Freeman Aquatic Center. Diving runs from March 5-7.
 
On Monday, the Hawkeye women will compete off the 1-meter springboard, while the men dive off the 3-meter. On Tuesday, the men will dive off the 1-meter, followed by the women off the 3-meter. The championship will conclude with platform diving on Wednesday.
 
Freshmen Anton Hoherz, Jonatan Posligua, and sophomore Thelma Strandberg will compete off of all three boards. Seniors Matt Mauser and Morgan Rafferty will compete off the 1-meter and 3-meter boards, alongside freshman Jayah Mathews and juniors Will Brenner and Jacintha Thomas.
 
Strandberg qualified for her first NCAA Championships in 2017. The Kristiansand, Norway, native finished with a score 476.25 off the platform last season.   
 
Hoherz holds the school record off the platform diving after diving to a 415.60 finish at the 2018 Big Ten Championships. Brenner is Iowa’s school record-holder off the 1-meter with a score of 368.00.
