GOLD COAST, Australia — Former University of Iowa track and field All-American and 2016 Olympian Troy Doris won gold in the triple jump at the 2018 Commonwealth Games inside Carraca Stadium on Saturday morning.

Doris, competing for Guyana, jumped a season best 16.88 meters (55-feet, 4.75-inches) to win his first international gold medal. Doris’ victory is Guyana’s fourth gold medal (1934, 1978, and 2002) at the Commonwealth Games and first since 2002.

Doris was a four-time All-American and Big Ten Champion at Iowa from 2011-12 and is the indoor and outdoor triple jump school-record holder at 54 feet and 54 feet 8 inches, respectively.
