IOWA CITY, Iowa – – University of Iowa seniors Shawn Rennegarbe and Kristin Glesne, and sophomore Rachel Fujitani were named 2018 Women’s Golf Big Ten Preseason Honorees, the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Rennegarbe competed in all 10 tournaments last season. The senior from Addieville, Illinois, carded a career-best finish at the Hawkeye El-Tigre Invitational (March 16-17), tying for 20th, with a three-round total of 225 (+9). Rennegarbe tied for 38th at the Big Ten Championships last spring with a three-round score of 226 (+10).
As a freshman, Fujitani competed in all six tournaments last spring. The Phoenix, Arizona, native carded her first under-par round (71; -1) at the Arizona State Invitational (March 23-25). Fujitani recorded a career-best finish at the Bruzzy Challenge (April 1-3), tying for 13th with a 54-hole total of 239 (+23).
Glesne, a native of San Antonio, Texas, competed in nine tournaments last season. The senior tied for 42nd at the Hawkeye El-Tigre Invitational (March 16-17) with a 54-hole score of 230 (+14). Glesne tied for 46th at the Big Ten Championships (April 20-22) with a three-round total of 227 (+11).
The Hawkeyes open the 2018 season at the Branch Law Firm Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sept. 10-11.
